Know the Organ Systems in Humans and Their Functions

The organ system in humans is a collection of various organs that have their respective functions, but can work together to keep the body functioning altogether.

For example, the digestive system consists of several organs, including the stomach and intestines, although each has a special function, but together works to digest food. So also with other organ systems.

Various Organ Systems In Humans

The human organ system is divided by function. Here are the organ systems in humans and their functions:

  • Sensory System
The sense system consists of five senses or commonly known as the five senses. That is the eye that serves to see, ears to hear, the nose that serves as a means of smell, the tongue as a tool to taste, and the last is the skin.

In particular, the skin is part of the integument system, the system that covers the organs in the body. In addition to functioning as a sense of touch and taste, the skin is also a protective body of the entry of microorganisms and hazardous chemicals, help regulate body temperature, and keep the body from losing too much fluid.

  • Cardiovascular system
The cardiovascular system consists of the heart (cardio) and blood vessels (vascular). The cardiovascular system is responsible for pumping and circulating blood throughout the body (blood circulation). Blood itself is a means of transport for oxygen, carbon dioxide, nutrients, hormones, and various other substances, from and to the rest of the body.
  • Respiratory system
The respiratory system is one of the vital organs of the human body that serves to inhale the body's needed oxygen and emit carbon dioxide as one of the metabolic waste substances. The respiratory system consists of nose, throat, larynx, trachea and bronchus, and lungs. Among the respiratory organs, the lungs are the largest organs that function in the exchange of oxygen and carbon monoxide gases.
  • Digestive system
The digestive system allows the body to receive food, convert, and process food into nutrients through a chemical breakdown process. This process occurs in organ systems that include the mouth, diaphragm, esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, and intestines.
  • The reproductive and urogenital system
The reproductive system is divided into male and female reproductive systems. The male reproductive system includes all organs used during sexual intercourse and generates offspring (procreation). It consists of penis, testis, epididymis, and vas deferens.

While the female reproductive system includes all the organs necessary for sexual intercourse, pregnancy, and childbirth. The organs in the female reproductive system include vaginal, uterine, ovarian, and Falopian tubes.

Meanwhile, the urogenital system is an organ system that interacts between reproduction and urinary excretion.

  • Nervous and musculoskeletal system
The nervous system consists of all the nerve cells in your body, both sensory and motor neurons. The nervous system allows humans to feel, understand, and respond to the surrounding environment. The nervous system also plays a role in gestures, along with the musculoskeletal system.

The musculoskeletal system includes muscle (musculo) and bone (skeletal). It generally works to move the body, maintain posture and balance, generate body heat through metabolism, and protect the organs in the body.

  • The endocrine system
The endocrine system consists of a series of glands that produce and secrete hormones that the body uses to control various body functions, such as respiration, metabolism, reproduction, movement, growth, sensory perception, and sexual development.
  • System e | The excretory system consists of sweat glands, kidneys, bladder, ureter and urethra. Excretion system is a system of organs in humans that function to remove substances waste metabolism, as well as substances that are considered toxic by the body.
  • Immune System
The immune system is an immune system composed of specialized cells, proteins, tissues, and organs, which keep the body from various infectious causes and other substances that are likely to be harmful to the body.

The organ systems in humans perform their respective functions, yet remain interrelated and mutually supportive. Keeping the organ system functioning optimally, it is very important to ensure the body is able to undergo daily activities. Therefore, apply a healthy lifestyle from an early age, in order to maintain the health of the organ system and its function.
